Opinion: Impact events promise the world. What if their sponsors are helping to destroy it?

Concerns about talking shops, virtue-signalling and purpose-washing are widespread – and sometimes justified – in the conference circuit. Event sponsors can no longer rely on big claims or good intentions: they must take every opportunity to prove they're not making today's problems worse, says our columnist.
