Podcast: "Capital alone will not address poverty, climate and social justice"

Amit Bhatia, CEO of the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG), and the British Council’s Dr Mairi Mackay, were both keynote speakers at Good Deals and Beyond Good Business, the UK’s leading social enterprise conference, which took place earlier this year

Amit and Mairi took time out from the event to speak to Pioneers Post’s Julie Pybus about the power of private capital to tackle social issues, the role of creativity in building a purposeful economy and why millennials might be a big sign of hope for the social impact movement.

They also explain the thinking behind a new partnership between the Global Steering Group and the British Council which aims to push forward the development of impact investment around the world.

We have released the podcast and video this week to coincide with the G20’s Development Working Group (G20-DWG) meeting with the GSG in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which Mairi and Amit are both attending. Their aim is to put social impact investment on the global agenda as a key approach to help countries tackle social and environmental problems.
